Alternating Overnight and Weekend Lane Closures on Somerset Street West

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train South Extension Project, overpass fencing will be installed on Somerset Street West over the O-Train line. This work will require alternating overnight and weekend lane closures on Somerset Street West with flaggers and spotters present.

April - June: Notice of Night Work Parkway/Byron Tunnel

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working overnight in the Parkway/Byron Tunnel. Cut and cover tunnel structures (concrete tunnel floor, walls, and roof) along Kichi Zìbì Mìkan Parkway will be completed this year, along with tunnel backfill operations. Overall, at the end of March the Parkway/Byron Tunnel was 90% complete.

April 2024 - Overnight Work from Queensway to Algonquin

Starting April 2024, expect some nighttime work on the Stage 2 O-Train project, from Queensway to Algonquin Station. This will complement our usual daytime schedule, all within noise rules to keep things smooth for everyone.

Notice of Recurring Temporary Road Closures Byron Avenue

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project’s Cut & Cover Tunnel construction, sections of Byron Avenue will be temporarily closed for the pouring of concrete and deliveries. Each pour requires 10 to 15 hours to complete as well as to stage delivery vehicles, cranes, and concrete trucks. Please note that concrete pours must be performed continuously until completed to ensure the quality of the concrete.
In addition, station construction is underway at New Orchard and Sherbourne Stations until winter 2024-2025. Temporary closures on Byron, near those two stations, will also be periodically required for stations work.

April - Notice of Tree Removal: Kichi Zìbì Mìkan Between Wavell Avenue and Westminster Avenue

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, select trees will be removed along the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan (KZM) between Wavell Avenue and Westminster Avenue. All tree removals in this area have been approved by the National Capital Commission (NCC) and are pending the completion of bat and migratory bird surveys. Efforts have been made to minimize the number of trees being removed and any trees removed will be replaced by new plantings at the conclusion of the project.
