OC Transpo always puts the safety of its customers and employees first. The O-Train Line 1 has several safety measures in place.
Sometimes, unexpected issues or disruptions can happen, just like with any rail system. When this occurs, OC Transpo acts quickly and works with Rideau Transit Maintenance, experts, and other partners. They also notify the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) as part of their usual process.

While travelling at a low speed at Belfast Yard Maintenance and Storage Facility, a hi-rail truck (a vehicle modified to operate both on conventional roads and on railways) derailed. There were no injuries and no damage.
