Summer 2024 - Overnight Closures on Kichi Zìbì Mikan

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be performing road works on Zìbì Mikan (KZM) east of Island Park Drive, requiring overnight road closures.

What:      Eastbound and westbound road closures east of Island Park Drive on KZM.

When:     

Kichi Zìbì Mikan Westbound Closures
Sunday, July 21 from 9:00 p.m. until Monday, July 22 at 5:30 a.m.
Wednesday, July 24 from 9:00 p.m. until Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 a.m.
Monday, July 29 from 9:00 p.m. until Tuesday, July 30 at 5:30 a.m.

Kichi Zìbì Mikan Eastbound Closures
Monday, July 29 from 9:00 p.m. until Tuesday, July 30 at 5:30 a.m.
Sunday, August 4 from 9:00 p.m. until Monday, August 5 at 5:30 a.m.
Thursday, August 8 24 from 9:00 p.m. until Friday, August 9 at 5:30 a.m.

This schedule is subject to change.

Why:      
Temporary concrete barriers need to be relocated, requiring heavy equipment on the roadway.

Where:   
On KZM east of Island Park Drive, where the pedestrian underpass connects to Carleton Avenue.

Anticipated Impacts
Detour
: Motorists travelling eastbound will exit KZM at Island Park Drive, travelling south to Scott Street, then northbound on Parkdale Avenue, to eastbound KZM. Motorists travelling westbound will exit at Parkdale Avenue, travel southbound to Scott Street, westbound on Island Park Drive to KZM, eastbound on KZM until the turnaround to return to the westbound direction.

Site lighting will be directed away from residences and point at the work zone.

Heavy equipment will be used to execute the work.

Broadband back-up alarms will be used on all vehicles.
