Queensway Station to Algonquin Station - Notice of Night Work
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working overnight in the LRT guideway (former Transitway trench) from the Queensway Transitway Station to Iris Station and Algonquin Station.
What:
Night work is required as work proceeds on bridges, structures, utilities, roads, and the LRT guideway. Overnight activities may include excavation and hauling, concrete pouring, utility installation, paving, grading, and snow removal.
When:
Night Work: Monday to Saturday 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Sundays and Statutory holidays - will occur, as required, through March 2024.
Night work will be undertaken in conjunction with daytime activities on weekdays and weekends.
Why:
To complete critical project work that is time sensitive and/or required during off-peak hours.
Where:
Queensway Transitway Station to Iris Station and Algonquin Station, along the LRT guideway.
Anticipated Impacts
Noise and vibration from crews and heavy equipment can be expected.
Use of vac trucks, and hoe-ramming are only permitted during daytime hours.
All construction vehicles and equipment working overnight will be equipped with broadband backup alarms. Trucks use approved haul routes and workers and contractors park in designated parking areas.
Site lighting for overnight work is required to maintain safe working conditions for workers. Light plants, generators and compressors are placed onsite as far away from neighbouring homes and/or wrapped in Echo Barrier.
All pedestrian, cycling, bus, and vehicular movements will generally be maintained during construction, with some detours. Temporary multi-use pathway (MUP) closures may be required to allow for construction work to proceed safely.
Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution when localized detours are in place and adhere to all posted signage, when travelling to ensure safety, as patterns may have changed.
The City of Ottawa thanks residents for their patience as we work to complete these construction activities.
The safety of the public and workers is paramount,
and we thank you for your patience during construction.
