Orléans Boulevard at Highway 174 - Overnight Full Closure - October 3-17 & 24
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling on Orléans Boulevard at the Highway 174 interchange should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.
What:
Full overnight closure of Orléans Boulevard at Highway 174.
When:
Thursday, October 3 to Thursday, October 17 and Thursday, October 24 from 11:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. each night.
Why:
Work on the bridge’s expansion joint.
Where:
Orléans Boulevard at Highway 174.
The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Detour
Motorists travelling northbound on Orléans Boulevard should travel west on St. Joseph Boulevard to Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard and continue north on Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard until reconnecting with Orléans Boulevard. Southbound motorists should follow this detour in reverse.
Alternatively, northbound motorists on Orléans Boulevard can travel eastbound on St. Joseph Boulevard to Place d’Orléans Drive, continue north on Place d’Orléans Drive to Champlain Street, and then continue north on Champlain Street until Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard. Motorists will continue west on Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard until reconnecting with Orléans Boulevard. Southbound motorists on Orléans Boulevard should follow this detour in reverse.
Anticipated Impacts
- Site lighting and generators will be used to power lights which are a safety requirement for overnight work. Crews will place and/or direct the light away from residences to mitigate
any impacts. - Night work is needed at times to accommodate work that requires traffic closures that cannot be done during the day, thus mitigating impacts on the travelling public.
- Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
- Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place to ensure safety.
