Notice of Night Work: Ward 7 (Light Maintenance and Storage Facility to Kichi Zibi Station)
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working overnight along the LRT alignment from the Light Maintenance and Storage Facility (LMSF) west of Moodie Drive to Kichi Zibi Station. Overnight work may also occur along the Kichi Zibi Mikan (KZM).
What:
ight work is required along the LRT alignment from the LMSF to Kichi Zibi Station as work proceeds on bridges, structures, utilities, roads, stockpiles, berms, and the LRT guideway. Overnight activities may include excavation and hauling, backfilling, concrete pouring, utility installation, welding, grading, paving, fueling, equipment maintenance and servicing, site housekeeping and snow clearing operations.
*Unless otherwise notified, rock breaking, and vacuum truck excavation is NOT permitted overnight.
When:
KEV anticipates that periodic night work will be required and ongoing throughout 2025. Night work will occur subject to a valid noise by-law exemption, in addition to daytime activities on weekdays and weekends.
Night Work: Monday to Saturday 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Sundays and Statutory holidays - will occur, as required, through March 2025.
Why:
To complete critical project work that is time sensitive and/or required during
off-peak hours.
Where:
Along the LRT alignment from the Light Maintenance and Storage Facility (LMSF) to Kichi Zibi Station, and also along the KZM.
Anticipated Impacts
Noise and vibration from crews and heavy equipment can be expected.
All construction vehicles and equipment, working overnight will be equipped with broadband back-up alarms. Trucks use approved haul routes and workers and contractors park in designated parking areas.
Street sweeping, and cleaning will be ongoing along truck routes and around construction zones.
Site lighting for overnight is required to maintain safe working conditions for workers. The use of
lights will be minimized where possible and special attention paid to ensure that it is not impacting nearby residences.
All pedestrian, cycling, bus, and vehicular movements will generally be maintained during construction, with some detours. Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution when localized detours are in place and adhere to all posted signage, when travelling to ensure safety, as patterns may have changed.
The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
