Notice of Long-term MUP Closure: Kichi Zìbì Station
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, the multi-use pathway to the west of Kichi Zìbì Station will continue to be closed as crews construct the new permanent MUP for the area. A pedestrian and cyclist detour is in place.
What:
The MUP to the west of Kichi Zìbì Station will continue to be closed for construction. A MUP detour will be in place to the south of the station for pedestrians and cyclists wishing to use the MUP to the west of Kichi Zìbì Station. Additional signage will be added to encourage cyclists to dismount and walk if they choose to use the sidewalk.
When:
August for approximately eight weeks until work is complete (expected by late October).
Please note that construction work may be delayed or extended due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, and the schedule outlined in this notice is subject to change.

Pedestrian and cyclist detour
Pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured along Richmond Road, north on Berkley Avenue, west on Tay Street and then north on Dominion Avenue to reconnect with the MUP. Pedestrians and cyclists accessing the MUP from the north end of Dominion will follow this detour in reverse.

Anticipated Impacts

Excavation, grading, backfilling and paving work that could include use of excavators, bulldozers, and compactors.

Trucks delivering and hauling away materials may be visible and noise from this equipment will be audible. These trucks will be equipped with broadband alarms to minimize noise when reversing.

Some rock grinding and rock chipping may take place.

Noise from other equipment including hydrovac trucks may be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.

Dust resulting from excavation and backfilling may be present in the vicinity of the work site. Street sweepers will be deployed regularly to ensure roads are clean.

Generators may be in use during the day and will be turned off at night if not needed.

Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.

Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.
