New real-time data test feed available now
We’ve just released a test version of a GTFS Realtime data feed.
We made this test feed available for developers in advance of the final version so that they have plenty of time to get used to it and adjust their applications.
GTFS, or General Transit Feed Specification is an industry standard, open data format for transit agencies to share data about transit service. GTFS Realtime is an extension to GTFS that provides real-time transit information including vehicle position and trip updates for application developers.
You might also notice changes to the alerts you receive through third-party apps. For accurate detours and service information, be sure to subscribe to My Alerts.
After we complete testing of the GTFS Realtime feed, we’ll incorporate it across all our OC Transpo travel planning tools.
Transit, the recommended mobile app for OC Transpo customers, has already made the switch to GTFS Realtime. You can see cancelled trips and real-time predictions up to 45 minutes in advance for most trips. Download Transit on Google Play or the App Store.
Improvements to our real-time information for customers is a commitment in our 5-Year Roadmap.
