Montreal Road at Highway 174 - Weekend Full Closure - August 16-19
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling on Montreal Road at the Highway 174 interchange as well as residents whose homes are near Montreal Road, should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities. Local businesses remain open.
What:
Full closure of Montreal Road at the Highway 174 interchange, including some ramp closures.
The following ramps will be closed:
- Highway 174 westbound off-ramp at Montreal Road
- Highway 174 westbound on-ramp from eastbound Montreal Road
- Highway 174 westbound on-ramp from westbound Montreal Road
- Highway 174 eastbound on-ramp from eastbound Montreal Road
- Highway 174 eastbound off-ramp left turn lane at Montreal Road
When:
Friday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. to Monday, August 19 at 5:30 a.m.
Why:
Drainage and electrical work, relocation of temporary concrete barriers, grading, paving and line painting.
Where:
Montreal Road at Highway 174 interchange.
The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Detour
Local traffic west of the Montreal Road interchange, looking to travel eastbound on Highway 174:
- Take Montreal Road to Ogilvie Road and travel south to Blair Road. Turn left and travel south on Blair Road to Innes Road. Turn left onto Innes Road and travel east to Bearbrook Road. Turn left onto Bearbrook Road, and travel north to connect to St. Joseph Boulevard. Turn right on to St. Joseph Boulevard and travel east to Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard. Take the third exit at the roundabout to travel north to connect to Highway 174 eastbound at the Jeanne d’Arc interchange.
Local traffic east of the Montreal Road interchange on St. Joseph Boulevard, looking to travel to Montreal Road:
- Turn left onto Bearbrook Road. Travel south on Bearbrook Road to Innes Road. Turn right and travel west on Innes Road to Blair Road. Turn right to travel north on Blair Road to Ogilvie Road. Turn right and travel east to Montreal Road westbound.
Local traffic on St. Joseph Boulevard east of Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard looking to travel westbound on Highway 174:
- Drive west on St. Joseph Boulevard to the traffic circle at Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard. Take the first exit at the roundabout to travel north and connect to Highway 174 westbound from Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard.
Motorists travelling westbound on Highway 174 to Montreal Road:
- Take the Highway 174 westbound off-ramp at Blair Road and travel north on Blair Road to Ogilvie Road. Turn right and travel east on Ogilvie Road to Montreal Road.
Motorists travelling westbound on Highway 174 to St. Joseph Boulevard east of the Montreal Road interchange:
- Take the Highway 174 westbound off-ramp at Blair Road and travel south on Blair Road to Innes Road. Turn left onto Innes Road and travel east to Bearbrook Road. Turn left onto Bearbrook Road, and travel north to connect to St. Joseph Boulevard east of the Highway.
Motorists travelling eastbound on Highway 174 to Montreal Road:
- Take the Highway 174 eastbound off-ramp at Blair Road and travel north on Blair Road to Ogilvie Road. Turn right and travel east on Ogilvie Road to Montreal Road.
Motorists travelling eastbound on Highway 174 to St. Joseph Boulevard east of the Montreal Road interchange:
- Take the Highway 174 eastbound off-ramp at Montreal Road. The right turn channel of the Highway 174 eastbound off-ramp remains open.
Anticipated Impacts
Residents near the interchange can expect the following construction activities to take place:
- Excavators, Compactors, and pavers will be used for construction. Noise from equipment will be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.
- Trucks will deliver material to the site and haul material away. Noise from equipment and moving of material will be audible.
- Asphalt will be laid which may result in audible noise and some vibration from equipment.
- Site lighting and generators will be used to power lights which are a safety requirement for overnight work. Crews will place and/or direct the light away from residences to mitigate
any impacts. - Night work is needed at times to accommodate work that requires traffic closures that cannot be done during the day, thus mitigating impacts on the travelling public.
- Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place to ensure safety.
