As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling on Highway 174 and Montreal Road at the Highway 174 interchange, as well as residents whose homes are near Montreal Road should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.

What:    
Full closure of Montreal Road at the Highway 174 interchange, including all ramps.

When:   
Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. to Monday, October 28 at 5:30 a.m.

Why:     
Final paving.

Where: 
Montreal Road at Highway 174 interchange.

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Detour
Motorists can access Highway 174 in both directions at the Blair Road and Jeanne d’Arc interchanges.

Local traffic east of the Montreal Road interchange on St. Joseph Boulevard, looking to travel to Montreal Road:

  • Turn left onto Bearbrook Road. Travel south on Bearbrook Road to Innes Road. Turn right and travel west on Innes Road to Blair Road. Turn right to travel north on Blair Road to Ogilvie Road. Turn right on Ogilvie Road and travel east to Montreal Road.

Local traffic west of the Montreal Road interchange, looking to travel to St. Joseph Boulevard:

  • Travel west on Montreal Road to Ogilvie Road. Turn left on Ogilvie Road and travel to Blair Road. Turn left to travel south on Blair Road. Turn left on Innes Road and travel east to Bearbrook Road. Turn left on Bearbrook Road and travel north to St. Joseph Boulevard.

Residents near the interchange can expect the following construction activities to take place:

  • Excavators, Compactors, and pavers will be used for construction. Noise from equipment will be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.
  • Trucks will deliver material to the site and haul material away. Noise from equipment and moving of material will be audible.
  • Asphalt will be laid which may result in audible noise and some vibration from equipment.
  • Site lighting and generators will be used to power lights which are a safety requirement for overnight work. Crews will place and/or direct the light away from residences to mitigate
    any impacts.
  • Night work is needed at times to accommodate work that requires traffic closures that cannot be done during the day, thus mitigating impacts on the travelling public.
  • Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place to ensure safety.
