LRT Guideway/Transitway Trench - between Roosevelt Avenue and Tunney’s Pasture Station - Notice of Night Work

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working during the daytime and overnight in the LRT Guideway (former Transitway trench) between the temporary Transitway bridge and Tunney’s Pasture Station.

What:
Night work is required in the LRT Guideway, between the temporary Transitway bridge and Tunney’s Pasture Station. Night work may include excavation and hauling required for the installation of utilities (storm drainage/subdrain/culvert) and duct banks, Westboro Station construction, and to prepare the guideway for LRT track installation.

Vacuum truck excavation is NOT permitted overnight.

When:
Night work will be undertaken as required, January through March 2024, subject to a valid noise by-law exemption. This is in addition to daytime activities on weekdays and weekends.

Daytime hours of construction are Monday to Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday and on Statutory Holidays.

Why:
To complete critical project work that is time sensitive and/or required during off-peak hours.

Where:
Within the Transitway trench, between Roosevelt Avenue (temporary Transitway bridge) and Tunney’s Pasture Station.

*Night Work is NOT permitted in the Kichi Sibi Station area

Anticipated Impacts:

Noise and vibration from crews and equipment is expected. Impacts from night work should be limited, as the work moves throughout the LRT guideway trench.

All construction vehicles and equipment working overnight will be equipped with broadband back-up alarms to minimize operational noise. Trucks use approved haul routes and workers and contractors park in designated parking areas.

Site lighting for overnight work will be required. Crews will place and/or direct the light to mitigate impact on residents at the surface.

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The safety of the public and workers is paramount, and we thank you for your patience during construction.

Accessibility:
Accessibility is an important consideration for the Stage 2 LRT project. The Stage 2 team makes every effort to provide access through and around construction sites. If you require special accommodation, please contact stage2@ottawa.ca.
