July- Sept.: Night work Parkway/Byron tunnel & Kichi Zìbì Mìkan
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, crews and equipment will be working overnight on the Parkway/Byron Tunnel and along the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan.
What:
Night work is required on the Parkway/Byron Tunnel and Kichi Zìbì Mìkan. Night work may include excavation, hauling, grading, installation of form work, concrete pouring, utility installation, fueling, equipment maintenance and servicing, and site housekeeping.
Note: Pile drilling, rock breaking, vacuum truck excavation is NOT permitted overnight.
When:
KEV anticipates that periodic night work will be required and ongoing throughout 2024. Night work will occur subject to a valid noise by-law exemption, in addition to daytime activities on weekdays and weekends.
Night Work: Monday to Saturday 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Sundays and Statutory holidays - will occur, as required, through September 2024.
Why:
To complete critical project work that is time sensitive and/or required during off-peak hours.
Where:
Parkway/Byron Tunnel from Rochester Field along Kichi Zībī Mīkan and along Byron Linear Park to north Lincoln Fields.
Anticipated Impacts
Noise and vibration from crews and heavy equipment may be expected. All construction vehicles and equipment, working overnight will be equipped with broadband back-up alarms. Trucks use approved haul routes and workers and contractors park in designated parking areasTrucks use approved haul routes and workers and contractors park in designated parking areas.
Generators are required to run equipment in the tunnels. When possible, generators are wrapped in noise barriers.
Site lighting for overnight work is required to maintain safe working conditions for workers. The use of lights will be minimized where possible and special attention paid to ensure that it is not impacting nearby residences.
