July 26 to 29 - Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard at Highway 174 Interchange - Full Closure

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling on Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard at Highway 174 should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.

What:          
Full closure of Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard at Highway 174 and associated ramps.

When:         
Friday, July 26 at 9:00 p.m. to Monday, July 29 at 5:30 a.m.

Why:            
Multiple scopes of work including temporary bus shelter removal, traffic signal work, temporary concrete barrier relocation and line painting.

Where:        
Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard at Highway 174 interchange.

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Detours
Motorists can access Highway 174 in both directions at the Place d’Orléans / Champlain Street interchange.

After 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 27 Motorists will be able to access westbound Highway 174 using the southbound Champlain Street on-ramp to westbound Highway 174. It is closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, July 26 until 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 27 for a concurrent scope of work. Between those hours, motorists on the north side of the Highway can access westbound Highway 174 by crossing the Highway at either Champlain Street or Orléans Boulevard and taking St. Joseph Boulevard westbound to the Montreal Road Interchange.

Motorists can access eastbound Highway 174 using the Place d’Orléans Drive on-ramp to eastbound Highway 174. The ramp has been opened to motorists travelling in the northbound direction on Place d’Orléans Drive on the east side of the mall.

Motorists on the south side of the Highway can access westbound Highway 174 by taking St. Joseph Boulevard westbound to the Montreal Road interchange.

Motorists are encouraged to cross Highway 174 at the Place d’Orléans / Champlain Street interchange to avoid lane reductions in place on Orléans Boulevard.

Anticipated Impacts
Residents near the interchange can expect the following construction activities to take place:

  • Excavators will be used for construction. Noise from equipment will be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.
  • Trucks will remove material from the site. Noise from equipment and moving of material will be audible.
  • Noise from equipment and moving of material will be audible.
  • Noise and vibration monitors will be in place.
  • Site lighting and generators will be used to power lights which are a safety requirement for overnight work. Crews will place and/or direct the light away from residences to mitigate
    any impacts.
  • Night work is needed at times to accommodate work that requires traffic closures that cannot be done during the day, thus mitigating impacts on the travelling public.
  • Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place to ensure safety.
