July 15- Notice of Overnight Work: Kichi Zìbì Mìkan at Duchess Avenue
As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, overnight construction work will be required along the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan (KZM) to the west of Duchess Avenue.
What:
Overnight construction work along the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan. Traffic will be maintained on the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan in both directions during this work.
When:
Nightly Monday to Thursday between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m. for approximately two weeks commencing on July 15, 2024.
Why:
Excavation, installation of drainage infrastructure, and roadwork preparation for the permanent alignment of the Kichi Zìbì Mìkan.
Where:
Kichi Zìbì Mìkan to the west of Duchess Avenue.
Anticipated Impacts
Night work is required to meet the schedule on this large and complex project. Overnight work will take place Monday to Thursday (5 p.m. to 3 a.m.) and schedules will change to dayshift operations Friday to Sunday (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
Overnight rock breaking, hydrovac, tailgate slamming, box shaking and hauling will NOT be permitted.
Noise from equipment will be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.
Trucks will deliver granular material to the site and will haul away excavated material. Noise from equipment and moving of material will be audible.
Site lighting for overnight work may be required and crews will place and/or direct the light to mitigate impact on residents.
Generators, light plants and fencing (where appropriate) will be surrounded by Echo barriers.
All construction vehicles will be equipped with broadband back-up alarms.
Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place, to ensure safety.
Motorists should not be impacted by this work, but should continue to adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
