Highway 174 Westbound from Champlain Street to Montreal Road - Overnight Full Closure

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling Highway 174 westbound between Champlain Street and Montreal Road should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.

What:   
Full closure of Highway 174 westbound between Champlain Street and Montreal Road.

This closure coincides with closures for other construction work that includes:

  • Full closure of Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard at Highway 174 and associated ramps
  • Full closure of the Highway 174 westbound on-ramp from northbound Champlain Street
  • Full closure of the Highway 174 westbound on-ramp from southbound Champlain Street

When:  
Friday, July 26 at 8:00 p.m. until Saturday, July 27 at 8:00 a.m.

Why:    
Line painting.

Where: 
Highway 174 westbound between Champlain Street and Montreal Road.

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Detour:
Motorists needing to travel westbound on Highway 174 will need to exit at Champlain Street and travel south to St. Joseph Boulevard. They will take St. Joseph Boulevard westbound to rejoin Highway 174 westbound at the Montreal Road interchange. 

Motorists needing to travel to the north side of the Highway between the Champlain and Jeanne d'Arc exits will need to exit westbound Highway 174 at Champlain Street and travel north to Jeanne d’Arc.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Site lighting will be in place for overnight work.
  • Noise from equipment will be audible and some equipment may cause vibrations.

Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
