As part of the Stage 2 O-Train Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, motorists travelling on Highway 174 eastbound at Montreal Road should anticipate impacts to traffic as crews complete necessary construction activities.

What:          
Lane reduction on Highway 174 eastbound at Montreal Road. The on-ramps to Highway 174 eastbound from westbound and eastbound Montreal Road will be closed.

When:         
Friday, August 9 at 10:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, August 12.

Why:           
Retaining wall construction, flatworks, and drainage work.

Where:        
Highway 174 eastbound at Montreal Road.

The construction work outlined in this notice is subject to change. Work may be delayed or extended due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Detour
To connect to Highway 174 eastbound, motorists travelling westbound on Montreal Road will need to merge on to Highway 174 westbound at the Montreal Road interchange. They will then travel west and exit at Blair Road, turn left, and drive south on Blair Road. They will then take the Highway 174 on-ramp to connect to Highway 174 eastbound.

Alternatively, motorists can travel east on St. Joseph Boulevard to the traffic circle at Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard. They will then travel north and connect to Highway 174 eastbound at the Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard interchange.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Motorists should adhere to detours, traffic control signage, posted speed limits, allow for added travel time and use extra caution when moving through active construction corridors as traffic patterns change.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists should use extra caution and adhere to posted signage when localized detours are in-place to ensure safety.
