OC Transpo & STO
Fare options to ride on both networks
OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) work together to provide transit services across the National Capital Region.
STO buses connect to Line 1 at Lyon, Parliament, and Rideau Stations.
- All passes and transfers are accepted on both transit networks
- Pay-per-ride with fare prices and products (payment options) of the starting transit network
- Easy route transfers between both transit networks
- Support persons are welcome onboard both transit networks
Pay with a pass
OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) accept one another’s passes:
- Monthly pass
- One-day DayPass
- Multi-day pass (for 3, 5 or 7 days)
- STO Annual pass
- U-Pass
How to pay
At the fare gates |
On the bus |

Tap your card on the reader at the gate. |
Tap your card on the reader near the door. For Multi card and U-Passes, show the driver the photo on your card. |
Pay-per-ride
To pay-per-ride, use the payment options available for the network on which you start your trip. You can then transfer to any route within either network until your transfer time runs out (90+ minutes).
If your return trip starts on the other network, you will need to use the payment options and fare rates for that network.
Per-ride on OC Transpo
OC Transpo accepts:
- Presto e-Purse
- Single-ride ticket (from a Ticket Machine)
- Cash at OC Transpo rate
- Transfers
Paying with a Presto e-Purse

Paying with a single-ride ticket

Buy your ticket from the Ticket Machine near the fare gates. |

Scan your transfer at the gate barcode reader. |
Show the driver your ticket as you board. |
Hold onto your ticket. It is both your transfer and proof of payment. |
Pay with cash
To pay using cash on the bus:
- Deposit exact change in the fare box.
- Wait for your transfer to print.
Use the Ticket Machine to pay with cash at the fare gate.
Transferring
Use your valid pass or transfer to connect between routes on either transit network.

Pay-per-ride on STO
STO accepts:

Payment methods NOT accepted by OC Transpo:
- STO bus tickets
- STO Student pass for "school days only"
- You can’t use the STO Passe-Temps as a Family DayPass but you can use it as a pass for one person
Payment methods NOT accepted by STO:
- Presto e-Purse (but you CAN use your e-Purse to start your journey aboard OC Transpo, then transfer to STO)
- Travel Training card
- You can only use the one-day DayPass and multi-day pass for one person on STO. You can’t use it as a Family DayPass.
Support Persons
Support persons ride free on both networks with a valid card:
- OC Transpo Support Person Card
- OC Transpo a-Card
- STO Attendant card
On the bus, just show your card to the driver.
At the fare gates:
- a-Card holders: Tap or scan your own fare. Then, tap your a-Card to open the gate for your Support person
- STO Attendant Card holders: Use the video chat option on the ticket machine.
