Student ID Cards
effective July 1, 2009

If you decide to buy a monthly, semester or annual student pass, you'll need an OC Transpo Student Photo ID card. 


Student Photo ID Card and Transit Pass
The appropriate type of ID card must match the type of bus pass.  

The photo ID costs $5.75 and must be renewed annually. 

You can get your photo ID at any OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres. They accept payment for purchases of $9.50 or greater through Interac or Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards.

 

Students requesting a photo ID ($5.75) must provide:

  1. Current photo identification or acceptable signed identification (ie: student card; drivers license or passport)
     

  2. Proof of full-time enrollment status as a student (see below)
       

  3. Students must provide proof of Ontario residency.
     

  4. Those who cannot provide proof of full-time student status should obtain an application for an OC Transpo Identification Card form.

  • When purchasing an Annual Student Pass, the student must be present at the time of purchase to have their OC Transpo photo ID taken. Annual Student Pass & Photo ID are only available at OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres. 

  • Semester Student Passes are for post-secondary students only.
     

  • Only full-time students who are residents of Ontario are eligible for student Photo IDs and discounts.  You need to provide proof of your full-time student status. If you cannot, you should obtain an application for an OC Transpo Identification Card form. If you are older or appear to be older than typical secondary school-age students, you will need proof of full-time attendance at school.

  • You can provide your school Student ID number to the Sales Representative for on-line verification of your full-time student status; otherwise you can provide the following documentation* : 
      

    • University of Ottawa students on the "Info Web" can print their Student Account Summary, Official Tuition Receipt (stating student is fulltime ) or they can request a letter on the Universities letterhead confirming their full time status. 
       

    • Carleton University students on "Carleton Central" can print the Fall/Winter Timetable ( 1.5 or more credits per session is considered full time or 1.5 credits for graduate students) along with their Student Account Summary or they can request a letter on the Universities letterhead confirming their full time status.
       

    • Algonquin College students can bring in their official timetable that states their fulltime status.
       

    • Other recognized Universities and Colleges in Ottawa and Surrounding Area.
       

    • Students 18 years and younger must show a student identification and/or proof of age. Students who appear older than 18 will be asked to provide proof of age. 
       

    • Mature students attending PVI Schools can obtain an OC Transpo form from the office of their learning institution and present the form with proper identification to our Sales Office. Only registered schools are eligible.
       

    • Mature students attending Adult High School can request an OC Transpo form from the school office and bring the completed form with proper identification to our Sales Office.
       

    • Out-of-town students can bring a letter on the school's letterhead confirming their full time status; a school registration receipt or a tuition receipt. 
       

    * All documentation listed above must also be presented with proper photo identification such as a student card, drivers license or passport.
     

 
Discounted Passes Extended to Students of OSAP

If you attend a local private vocational institution full-time, reside in Ontario and your training program is eligible for an OSAP loan or bursary, you may be eligible for a discounted student pass. OC Transpo has added vocational schools who qualify for student passes.

Always print your card ID Number on your pass in ink with large, clear print. Fill out the bottom portion of with your name and address so it can be returned to you if lost. Place your ID card in the top half of the wallet and the pass portion in the bottom half so the ID numbers line up.

  • Monthly Student Passes are only valid from the first day of the month until the last day of the month printed on the pass.

  • Semester Student Passes are valid for a four-month period:
          ◊   Winter:  January 1 - April 30
          ◊   Summer:  May 1 - August  31
          ◊   Fall:  September 1 - December 31

  • The Annual student pass is valid for the current school year from September 1st until August 31.
